This half-day course is perfect for new paddlers or anyone who has experience but wants to brush up or perfect their basic strokes. This class will cover forward strokes, reverse strokes, sweep strokes and then linking the sweep strokes into 360 turns, emergency stopping (a couple of different ways), a draw stroke, both stern rudders and stern pry's, and a low brace recovery stroke. Emphasis will be placed on engaging the core muscles to propel your boat and lessen the strain on you arm and shoulder muscles.
This half-day course is for experienced paddlers who want to get more enjoyment out of their paddling experience and increase the amount of control they have over their boat. This class will cover bow rudders, advanced stern rudders, low and high brace recovery strokes, low and high brace turns, side slips, and sculling draws. Emphasis will be placed on edging your boat while executing these stokes for maximum efficiency and boat movement. These strokes can be very useful while paddling in rock gardens, rougher conditions or just looking cool on the water.
