This summer and fall I had the pleasure to be instructed by Ken Fandetti at the Kayak Centre of Rhode Island.  Both Ken and Billy were fantastic in OP1 and the small class in my recently completed OP2 with Ken gave each of us plenty of one-on-one attention.  What I liked the most about Ken's style, is his "safety conscious attitude and concise on water demonstrations." 

Learning the right way is the only way.  When he explains that "perfect practice makes perfect -not just any practice," it is a great example of Ken's knowledge and dedication to the sport.

Ken Fandetti is without reservation the best instructor that I have ever had for any adventure sport or outdoor skill training. He combines a great memory with an easy going but firm command of his subject and is constantly enlisting feedback from his students. Plus he is one funny Dude!

During the OP2 class we were doing rescues in the harbor and when I came up from a wet exit, I had a crab attached to the butt of my dry-suit.  We all had a terrific laugh and it was great way to top off a fantastic day. I also think that I might just have provided Ken with anther funny story to tell future students.  It was my pleasure.  I had a fantastic, educational and fun day! 

Thanks Ken and everyone at The Kayak Centre of Rhode Island....I'll stop in when I'm down in Wickford for the holidays and look forward to OP3 and OP4.

I just wanted to write and thank you for participating in our Family Fun Day.  The kayaking demos were a huge hit and your staff is great to work with.  I'll certainly be in touch for future events.

Thank you for making Family Fun Day GREAT!!!  We are looking forward to more great days on the water.  What a memorable experience for us!  Thanks and we will see you all soon!   You were all very supportive and helpful to us!  We are excited to begin our kayaking experience with you.  We will be attending many more of your classes!  We have a house of happy, tired, paddlers!

Just wanted you to know that I had an absolutely marvelous time last Saturday at the Oceanplay I for Women.  The two instructors helped me a great deal in the finer points of various paddle instruction (this was the 3rd time for me in this class).  Thanks so much for a wonderful day!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking your Oceanplay 1 course.   I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I was with the instruction I received.  It's not often you feel that you get more for your money than you expected, but in this case I did.  I was looking to gain confidence with my boat, and I did just that.  I had a great instructor, who went out of his way to show us all that he could.  I had to leave right after the class and did not get a chance to thank him, so please be sure he sees this letter

I had a delightful time at the Block Island July Workshop.  I learned so much and the encouragement to try and develop more skills was great.  The teachers were always available and the one on one really helped me in the challenging "tip over" moments.  I bought my Santee and now so many wonderful people and experiences have come my way.  Thank you Kayak Centre.

I want to let you know about the great experience I had at your center both times I was there for business.  The first time I visited the store was during the Wickford Art Festival.  My friend pointed out the Valley Avocet and said "there is a boat for you."  When we left the festival he asked me what piece I like best.  I said "the boat you pointed out was the most exciting piece I saw."  I had an inkling my life was on course for more fun and challenges.

Jen greeted me the first thing Monday morning.  She was bright, caring and really cheerful.  After a few minutes of talking, she got Jake.  He came over and deftly gave me the information and direction I needed.  I also observed that he was doing a fine job of directing the staff, while he was attentive to my personal (water, fresh air, etc.) as well as athletic needs.  Jake, with the assistance of the staff, outfitted me, my car and my new boat.

I returned on Sunday for the beginner's class - another great experience.  Andy and Matt were powerful examples of kayaking fun and skill. Both were pleasant, observant, and a bit challenging, which I liked.  The day went along nicely as each of us learned to our limit.  After the class, Andy made sure I was able to get the boat on top of my car and securely fasten it.  He took extra time and was really patient!

Laura and Matt, and another dark-haired young man, quietly and cheerfully helped us all in and out throughout the day.  They worked behind the scenes and made the total experience come off without a hitch.

My overall experience was excellent.  Whoever is selecting and training the staff in customer service is doing a terrific job.
